This painting depicts the John Moulton Barn beneath the Grand Tetons, an iconic scene in Jackson Hole. Although Ansel Adams never photographed this barn—or the others along Mormon Row—their weathered forms set against the Teton peaks continue to attract artists and photographers. Unlike Adams’ images, these structures tell a story less about untouched wilderness and more about human perseverance. Still, framed by the Tetons, they inevitably call his work to mind.
